About Sam

Samuel Jablon (b. 1986, Binghamton, NY) is a New York based painter and poet. In a recent public Zoom talk with artist Mike Cloud and Sam that was organized by The Brooklyn Rail, Cloud said of Sam: “His work always refers to a truth that exists in our world. The [written] statement is not funny or ironic unless it points outside of itself to our shared truth — which is a funny thing for a painting to try to do — to not try to create its own truth for us to fall into, but to always keep us outside of it in a shared truth.”

Jablon received his MFA from Brooklyn College/CUNY (2013) and his BA from Naropa University, Boulder, Colorado (2009). He has performed and exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, The Queens Museum, Hauser & Wirth, Storefront for Art and Architecture, The Kitchen, Artists Space, Blum & Poe, the Landing, and Ballon Rouge Collective. His work has been reviewed in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Interview Magazine, Art in America, ARTnews, Hyperallergic, BOMB, and the Brooklyn Rail.
